Undersecretary/Executive Director, Mindanao Development Authority

With a rank of an Undersecretary, Dr. Janet Lopoz is the current Executive Director of the Mindanao Development Authority, the lead agency in coordinating and integrating development efforts in Mindanao. She has held this position since 2010. Prior to this role, she served as Executive Director of the Mindanao Economic Development Council for five years. Since 2005, she has been heading the Philippine National Secretariat for Brunei Darussalam Indonesia Malaysia Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area, popularly known as BIMP-EAGA. As a National Coordinator for BIMP-EAGA, she has organized numerous international and local conferences and has lent her extensive expertise as a resource speaker in fora focusing on the development of Mindanao development and the importance of ASEAN. Concurrently, she has held different positions and projects of note in Mindanao, including chairing the Management Committee of Mindanao Peace and Development (MPAD) Programs and the Program Management Committee of the USAID-funded Growth with Equity in Mindanao (GEM) Program.
An economics degree holder, Dr. Lopoz has an extensive experience in the academe, earning an MBA from the Ateneo de Davao University where she tool her undergraduate as well and a Strategic Business Economics Program degree from the University of Asia and the Pacific under a scholarship. With a doctorate degree in organizational studies she earned from the University of Southeastern Philippines, Dr. Lopoz has published important studies and papers on higher education and peace in Mindanao.
