President, SMC Global Power

Alan Ortiz is currently the president of SMC Global Power Holdings Corp. (SMC Power), a wholly- owned affiliate of San Miguel Corporation. He was previously the president of the National Transmission Corporation, board adviser to the PNOC Energy Development Corporation, and board member of the Manila Electric Company.
Alan served the Philippine Government as assistant director-general of the National Security Council, vice-chairman and chief operating officer of the Development Bank of the Philippines, concurrently as undersecretary to the president for the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) Center and executive director of the Coordinating Council of the Philippines Assistance Program (CCPAP).
In the private sector, Alan held chief executive positions in the Economist Intelligence Unit (Phil.), Edison Mission Energy (Phil.), and Dharmala Corporation (Phil.). Alan was also a fixed income associate with Goldman Sachs Company in New York and Tokyo. He is an incumbent board member/treasurer of the Global Resource for Outsourced Workers (GROW) Incorporated and the Bantayog ng Mga Bayani Foundation.
He currently serves as the vice-president of the Philippine Council on Foreign Relations and as a member of the board of trustees of the Philippine Science High School.
