August 22, 2011 at 06:19

In this letter, dated August 12, 2011, the American Chamber of Commerce (a JFC member) commended the Senate Committee on Civil Service and Government Reorganization, chaired by Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, for initiating deliberations on Senate Bill 2770 — the bill professionalizing the practice of civil engineering in the Philippines. AmCham also submitted for the Committee’s consideration its comments on specific sections of the aforementioned bill, namely Sections 13 and 30 which govern the issues of examination qualifications and the practice of said profession by foreign nationals. AmCham also reiterated the pressing need to address the issue of reducing restrictions on foreign professionals to level the economic playing field for domestic and foreign players alike and to enhance the country’s overall competitiveness.
